“One whose upper and lower ranks have the same desires will be victorious.” The Art of War, Chapter 3: Planning the Attack
It is frustrating (both for techs and for management) when they cannot agree on their goals for security. Unless they can agree, they won’t succeed.
Loner,
I posted this same one today!
Insightful.
But to me, then, we have to go deeper – since this happens all-too-often.
What are the solutions? How do we get people to not only agree, but to agree on an effective and appropriate approach?
Clearly we need to improve the way we explain security – which I have taken to calling “the protection of information” and spend time working in common situations to establish a context to actually move forward.
We have to find a way to educate, to inform and then to bring people together.
After reading this, I’m going to go back and re-read the Art of War…. thanks for the inspiration.
